Śiśupāla said: "O descendant of the Kuru lineage! When so many great-souled lords of the earth are present here, Vārṣṇeya does not deserve to be worshipped, as if he were a king.
शिशुपाल ने कहा: "हे कुरु वंश के वंशज! जब पृथ्वी के इतने सारे महान आत्मा वाले स्वामी यहां मौजूद हैं, तो वार्ष्णेय पूजा के योग्य नहीं हैं, जैसे कि वह एक राजा थे।
This son of the river can see little and has transgressed what is proper. Though he knows what is dharma, Bhīṣma acts like you out of favouritism and is worthy of censure in the world of honest ones.
नदी का यह पुत्र कम देख सकता है और उसने जो उचित है उसका उल्लंघन किया है। यद्यपि वह जानता है कि धर्म क्या है, भीष्म पक्षपात के कारण आपकी तरह कार्य करता है और ईमानदार लोगों की दुनिया में निंदा के योग्य है।

दशार्ह का यह आदमी राजा भी नहीं है। आपने उन्हें श्रद्धांजलि अर्पित की है. वह इन सभी राजाओं में सबसे प्रमुख सम्मान पाने का पात्र कैसे है?
O bull among the Bhārata lineage! You cannot consider Kṛṣṇā to be the eldest when the aged Vāsudeva is here? How can the son he shown homage first?
हे भरत वंश में बैल! जब वृद्ध वासुदेव यहाँ हैं तो आप कृष्ण को सबसे बड़ा नहीं मान सकते? जिस बेटे को उसने सबसे पहले श्रद्धांजलि दी वह कैसे कर सकता है?

Or you may consider Vāsudeva to be one who always does that which ensures your welfare. But then, when Drupada is here, how can Mādhava be thus worshipped?
या आप वासुदेव को ऐसा मान सकते हैं जो हमेशा वही करता है जिससे आपका कल्याण सुनिश्चित होता है। लेकिन फिर, जब द्रुपद यहाँ हैं, तो माधव की इस प्रकार पूजा कैसे की जा सकती है?
O chief among those of the Kuru lineage! If you consider Kṛṣṇā to be your preceptor, how can Vārṣṇeya be shown homage when Droṇa is here?
हे कुरु वंश के प्रमुख! यदि आप कृष्ण को अपना गुरु मानते हैं, तो द्रोण के यहाँ रहते हुए वार्ष्णेय को कैसे श्रद्धांजलि दी जा सकती है?

हे कुरु वंश के वंशज! यदि आप कृष्ण को यज्ञ का पुजारी मानते हैं, तो ब्राह्मण द्वैपायन मौजूद होने पर आप उन्हें श्रद्धांजलि कैसे दिखा सकते हैं?

O supreme among those of the Kuru lineage! Madhusūdana is not a sacrificial priest, or a preceptor, or a king. Why have you shown him homage except out of favouritism?
हे कुरुवंशियों में श्रेष्ठ! मधुसूदन कोई यज्ञोपवीत, या उपदेशक, या राजा नहीं है। आपने पक्षपात के अलावा उन्हें श्रद्धांजलि क्यों दी?

O descendant of the Bhārata lineage! If you must worship Madhusūdana, why did you bring these kings here, so as to insult them?
हे भरत वंश के वंशज! यदि आपको मधुसूदन की पूजा करनी ही है, तो आप इन राजाओं को उनका अपमान करने के लिए यहाँ क्यों लाए?

वयं तु न भयादस्य कौन्तेयस्य महात्मनः प्रयच्छामः करान्सर्वे न लोभान्न च सान्त्वनात्
We did not offer tribute to the great-souled Kaunteya out of fear, or out of avarice, or as a result of conciliation.
हमने भय के कारण, या लोभ के कारण, या सुलह के परिणामस्वरूप महान आत्मा कौन्तेय को श्रद्धांजलि नहीं दी।
Kṛṣṇā has not attained any signs of royalty, yet he is offered homage in the midst of this assembly of kings. This is nothing but an insult.
कृष्ण को राजत्व का कोई लक्षण प्राप्त नहीं हुआ है, फिर भी राजाओं की इस सभा के बीच उन्हें श्रद्धांजलि अर्पित की जाती है। यह अपमान के अलावा और कुछ नहीं है.

अकस्माद्धर्मपुत्रस्य धर्मात्मेति यशो गतम् को हि धर्मच्युते पूजामेवं युक्तां प्रयोजयेत् योऽयं वृष्णिकुले जातो राजानं हतवान्पुरा
The fame of Dharma's son, as someone who has dharma in his heart, has vanished. Who can offer deserving homage in this way to one who has deviated from dharma? Born in the lineage of the Vṛṣṇi-s, he earlier slew a king.
हृदय में धर्म रखने वाले के रूप में धर्म के पुत्र की प्रसिद्धि लुप्त हो गई है। जो व्यक्ति धर्म से विमुख हो गया हो, उसे इस प्रकार से कौन योग्य श्रद्धांजलि दे सकता है? वृष्णियों के वंश में जन्मे, उन्होंने पहले एक राजा को मार डाला था।
O Mādhava! If the Kaunteya-s are scared and if they have become mean as a consequence of their asceticism, surely you could have enlightened them about what kind of honour you deserve.
हे माधव! यदि कौन्तेय डरे हुए हैं और यदि वे अपनी तपस्या के परिणामस्वरूप नीच हो गए हैं, तो निश्चित रूप से आप उन्हें बता सकते थे कि आप किस प्रकार के सम्मान के पात्र हैं।

अथ वा कृपणैरेतामुपनीतां जनार्दन पूजामनर्हः कस्मात्त्वमभ्यनुज्ञातवानसि
O Janārdana! If in their meanness they offered you a homage that you are not worthy of, why did you accept it?
हे जनार्दन! यदि उन्होंने अपनी क्षुद्रता में तुम्हें ऐसी श्रद्धांजलि अर्पित की जिसके तुम योग्य नहीं हो, तो तुमने उसे स्वीकार क्यों किया?
